Public charging site designed for disabled and elderly EV owners
As electric vehicles become ubiquitous, and a more and more diverse parts of the community start using electric cars, we need to start talking about how accessible public charging sites are for people living with disabilities and the elderly.
Here is an example of an on-line article outlining some of the challenges faced by a person who uses a wheelchair.
Electric vehicles are the future for everyone — except disabled people - The Verge
Articles like these have made me think about the design of many public charging stations and many feature bollards and site the machine on a raised curb which makes it difficult for someone in a wheelchair to plug in and start the charging process.
I think NRMA should consult with disabled advocacy groups as the network grows to make public charging easier for all EV drivers.

Really interesting points which no doubt will become increasingly important as infrastructure and EV uptake grows.
We want to see more people driving EVs and we don't want that to exclude any person who wants to drive them.
We've passed your post on to our policy team and we can update the community on this matter as progress in this space is made.
