SHASA EV Expo 2023 Batemans bay

The SHASA EV Expo was held at Hanging Rock Batemans bay Last Sunday.  The same day as fully charged had their day in Sydney.  By all accounts they had a pretty big day.  We had a pretty big day at Batemans bay with about 1500 attendees.

After a welcome to country by Rod Slockee, the event was opened by the mayor of Eurobodalla shire Mathew Hatcher and Federal member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips. 

40 vehicles were exhibited from the more affordable Nissan Leaf, BYD Atto 3 and MG ZSE to the exotic BMW iX1 and Porsche Taycan.  As to be expected there were several Teslas on show and some newcomers from Volvo, Cupra and Polestar.

Most of the vehicles were exhibited by their owners with no holes barred conversations about the good, the bad and the ugly of each type of car. Car resellers from the local area as well as Canberra were in attendance and reported a lot of interest.  ActewAGL also made the journey from Canberra, offering test drives in their BMW iX1 and providing information about charging options and electricity accounts for EV owners.

Visitors appreciated the opportunity to speak candidly with EV owners.  With more dealers present they also got the opportunity to find out about acquiring and maintaining an EV in the local region.  And the EV owners themselves? 'In spite of some challenges, once you own an EV you never want to go back to petrol or diesel'.
