Public charging stations that don't exist of don't work
I have recently purchased a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV and so far have failed to enjoy the thrill of a public charge. The first attempt was to use the chargers at Stockland shopping centre Forster. They have 2 Tesla charging points that work brilliantly for Tesla cars but not other brands, and 2 Charge Point outlets. To use the Charge Point outlets you need to install and register their App on your phone. Unfortunately the App fails to register. Further checking on the WEB indicates that Charge Point appears to have gone belly up in Australia. A query with the Stockland chain of shopping centres confirmed the issue. The good news is that Stockland is currently searching for a new vendor to take on the existing installations. The bad news is that it may take some time before this happens.
My second attempt was based on the "Transport for NSW, Charging Map indicating that there is a public charger at Warriewood Square shopping centre. I could not spot the charger location after a drive around the car park. So a check at the information booth confirmed that there is no EV charging station at the centre. So potential users be ware.

I successfully used a Chargepoint the other day. At Dee Why, Sydney.
They vacated Australia something like three years ago.
However I got an RFID from them and it continues to work.
I have heard rumours that you can register another RFID (such as a Chargefox one) with Chargepoint and that will work. No idea if that is true.

It seems kinda awkward every time you see public EV chargers taken up by PHEVs. Just charge it at home & leave public chargers for real EVs.

Hi TonyG..........I hear you and feel for you when trying to find working chargers. As posted and mentioned in other conversations, please don't stuff around, just download for free and use the Plugshare app. Most, if not all of the charging points in Australia and around the World are on it.
Unless you find a free public charger it's nearly always cheapest to charge at home. Cheers

Albury, which is a major inland city DOESN'T have a working NRMA charger, had 1, but, after multiple vandalisations, it has been barricaded off. Albury Refuse and Recycle centre has a fast charger that rarely works, due to lack of phone signal ( since day 1). If you come to Albury, remember your trickle charger.

Last year I commented on the lack of public charging stations in my two main travel locations of the northern beaches and Forster. I'm please to report that the Northern Beaches council has done a great job in the elapsed time to work with Jolt to install multiple charging stations with more on the way. They are proving very popular and hopefully many more will be installed as they are desperately needed.
Unfortunately, to my knowledge, Forster does still not have a public charging station. Come on Midcoast council. Time to come to the party.
